Sustainable solutions for waste recycling

Our Recycling Services

Newcastle Recycling Solutions is a fully licensed resource recovery and recycling facility with the capacity to successfully recycle a variety of construction and demolition waste along with aggregates, concrete, ballast and civil construction related waste.

Our goal is to provide contractors, developers, waste clearance companies, demolition crews and related occupations with a sustainable solution to their waste removal requirements.

Not only do we accept nearly all common waste materials, but we also have the capacity to recycle them into high-quality materials that are used for a range of different civil and construction applications. Our facility can take waste materials in almost any volume, providing a convenient recycling solution for operations of all sizes.

We do not accept putrescible waste, hazardous, liquid or special waste.

What materials do we accept?

Note that the categories listed below are indicative – we reserve the right to refuse waste that’s contaminated, or that is otherwise unsuitable for recycling. If you have any concerns about the suitability of your waste, get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise on a case-by-case basis.

Some materials can only be accepted if accompanied by a waste classification report. It is the responsibility of the operation to dispose of the waste to provide a suitable report. For the safety of our workforce and yours, it’s vital that waste classification reports are accurate and carried out by an appropriately qualified and experienced professional. The NSW government has produced a complete guide to waste classification, which should be followed before presenting waste to our facility for processing.

In most circumstances we are able to accept the following materials at our facility, provided they have a waste classification report:

  • Material subject to a Resource Recovery order and exemption
  • Excavated sand or soil (GSW CT1)
  • Virgin Excavated Natural Material (VENM)
  • Excavated Natural Material (ENM)

We also accept

We also accept pre classified materials such as (but not limited to):

  • Excavated asphalt
  • Reclaimed asphalt profiling
  • Concrete
  • Brick
  • Brick/concrete mix
  • Roofing tiles
  • General construction and demolition waste

If you’re not sure whether your waste materials meet our criteria for acceptance, contact us and we will always be happy to advise.

Circular economy

Newcastle Recycling Solutions is run according to the principles of a circular economy. We want to keep materials in circulation for as long as possible, reducing waste and pollution as much as we can. Not only are we a recycling facility, but we also use methods that are as energy-efficient and sustainable as we can make them. When you choose Newcastle Recycling Solutions to recycle your waste materials, you’re working with a company that’s invested heavily in technology that results in a very high percentage of your waste being recycled.

Because we are selective in the waste materials that we take, more than 99% of our recycled materials can be processed and reused as premium civil and construction materials for a range of different purposes. Our business is a true example of an operation that recycles waste into something better.

Boost your green credentials

One of the reasons we’re a popular option with operations that need to get rid of waste materials is that our green, sustainable approach provides an environmentally friendly waste removal solution. Most businesses are eager to operate in a planet-friendly way – it’s not just the right thing to do, it’s also an economical option. In most cases, getting rid of waste costs money – it makes good business sense to dispose of waste in a cost-effective manner, which is exactly what happens when you use the team at Newcastle Recycling Solutions to recycle your unwanted materials.

Reduce landfill

Despite encouraging signs that the amount of waste material being recycled has increased, the levels of waste that could be recycled, but which still end up in landfills, remain unacceptably high. Materials consigned to landfills serve no practical purpose and, particularly if contaminated, can cause environmental problems. In addition, land that’s been used for landfills has a restricted selection of uses.

Particularly when it comes to the waste material from civil engineering and construction projects, there’s really no excuse why it needs to end up in landfills – at Newcastle Recycling Solutions, we can process almost all the waste from these types of projects, diverting useful materials from landfill and creating high-calibre civil construction materials for 21st Century construction projects.

Divert to worthwhile projects

The waste materials we collect are processed at our eco-friendly plant to create a range of aggregate products that are used on local projects. If you’re a Sydney resident and recognise any of these iconic developments, you may be surprised to learn that our recycled aggregates were used as part of the construction process:

  • Barangaroo Development
  • M2 upgrade
  • Sydney Olympic Park
  • Widening of the West Connex M4
  • Wet ‘n’ Wild Park
  • North Connex
  • and many more across Sydney and the surrounding area.
